The other day I was walking through the grocery store, as I often do, perusing the aisles. I like to just take my time and look at all the things sometimes instead of rushing through, in case new recipes jump out at me.

(This is how sometimes my conveyor belt at checkout looks like a 5-year old went shopping: Reese's, Fruity Pebbles, Kool-Aid and a box of gummy bears.)

I was in the juice aisle, thinking about making new party punch cocktails for summer, when I saw Blue Hawaiian Punch. I immediately thought two things:

  1. Wow, that would be amazing with vodka. (Isn't everything?)
  2. With red cherries, that is PERFECT for the 4th of July!

Blue Hawaiian Party Punch is an easy vodka party punch recipe that's perfect for a crowd!

(No seriously it makes a TON, don't drink this alone.)

Forever I've been wanting to make the perfect 4th of July party punch recipe that's blue and red. I've seen tons of those layered drinks on Pinterest – we've all seen them – and they look fantastic. I'm sure they taste great too. And while I am able to easily make those red and blue layers easily (hack: you pour over the back of a spoon into the glass) they end up mixing within 5 seconds and turning purple.

Purple is NOT a 4th of July color.

Plus, if you want to make PUNCH because you're having a party there is no way to keep the layers red and blue. God knows I'm not going to stand at the bar all night pouring cocktails over a spoon. Not gonna happen, especially after I've drank one or two of these Blue Hawaiian Punches.

I bought a huge container of Blue Hawaiian Punch (also called Polar Blast, I assume because it's blue?) and went about my way thinking how I'd mix vodka with it.

(Daily thoughts of Dorothy: vodka goes with all the things.)

This Blue Hawaiian alcoholic punch recipe only has 4 ingredients:

  • Blue Hawaiian Punch (and you can substitute blue Kool-Aid if you want)
  • Pineapple juice
  • Rum
  • Vodka

Pineapple juice goes so well in so many different cocktails. It just adds a bit of flavor that deepens the flavor of the juice. Don't leave it out!

Rum and vodka make this a true beach-worthy cocktail that's perfect for summer.

Not only is it refreshing and delicious, but it's super pretty too! It's the perfect punch recipe for a baby shower too – it's baby boy blue!
